November 2, 2012
Morgan is back at home, and doing well! Thank you so much to all of you who have donated your time and money to help him with his recovery. Morgan has been home since Tuesday, Oct. 30. I visited with Morgan today at the hospital and can report that he is recovering wonderfully! After some interesting experiences whilst very high on strong pain medication, his pain is minimizing on a regular basis. Morgan is able to stand, walk around, and is his usual sarcastic yet light-hearted self. He is expecting to be able to return home by this upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Morgan's surgery went very well. In addition to successfully being able to replace the troublesome valves in his heart, Morgan's surgeons were able to address other life-long heart issues which will hopefully leave him in better shape than ever before. He reports that he is being well taken care of by the professional staff at the hospital, and wants to thank all of you who have supplied so many words of kindness during this time.
Our fundraising effort for Morgan is going quite well, but we still have a ways to go if we are going to be able to cover all of Morgan's medical expenses as well as financial needs resulting from time off from work. If you haven't done so already, please visit the "Donations" tab above and consider chipping in.
BREAKING NEWS! The good people at Laurelwood Brewing have organized a donation benefit for Morgan! On Tuesday, November 13, Laurelwood will be donating 20% of sales from all of their Portland brewpubs to Morgan. Yes, you can Drink For The Cause at any Laurelwood spot all day on Nov. 13, with the piece of mind that your libations will go to directly aid our friend. More information about this event will be coming out shortly.
